Helaas Quaker is gecastreerd . Het is gedaan door een vakman die dit zijn hele leven al bij vele paarden heeft gedaan. Er zijn gelukkig geen complicaties ontstaan, en hij was alweer snel het mannetje >;). Ondanks dat deze man hem pijn had gedaan, gedroeg hij zich bij de na controle erg rustig, en liet alles rustig toe. De laatste antibiotica is toegediend en voortaan gaat hij dus als ruin verder door het leven. Als laatste wil ik toch nog even zeggen dat als ik de gelegenheid had gehad om hem hengst te laten ,ik dat zeker had gedaan.

Heb je 'm staand of liggend laten castreren? en door een dierenarts?

Bij een staande castratie vind ik 't altijd maar weer verbazingwekkend dat zo'n groot bloedvat stopt met bloeden door even een minuut of 10 te klemmen, elke keer sta ik weer versteld haha.

We hebben Quaker puur voor de recreatie , en aangezien de stalling waar we nu staan geen faciliteiten heeft om een hengst te stallen was dit voor ons de verstandigste keuze. Hoewel ik moet zeggen dat het tot heden wel goed ging qua gedrag enzo. Het is trouwens staande gebeurd door een castreur. Was op zich snel en goed gebeurd geloof ik. Mijn man had wat meer problemen met hoe respectloos er met z'n zaakie werd omgegaan maar ja ,daar zal het wel een man voor zijn :D .

Dit is niet om je de les te lezen hoor, maar pas op met een castreur.

Deze mensen mogen officieel geen verdoving geven en zelfs de handeling niet uitvoeren (heeft hij dat überhaupt wel verdoving gegeven in de halsader?), als er wat mis gaat heb je geen poot om op te staan en kan je het niet op hem verhalen zoals je dat bij een dierenarts kan doen.

Maar goed dit even terzijde, fijn dat alles goed met 'm is.

Ja hij heeft het paard eerst verdoofd in de halsslagader, ging allemaal zeer professioneel. Hij doet hier in de regio bijna alle castraties. Hebben jullie daar soms vervelende ervaringen meer gehad dan??

Ja absoluut, ik werk in een dierenartsenpraktijk en hoeveel paarden daar wel niet van terug komen echt verschrikkelijk. Als het niet bij de castratie wond is dan wel bij de ader een dikke ontsteking.

Maar officieel mogen ze dit absoluut niet doen, en zeker niet verdoven.

Maar goed dit was even off topic.

In Frankrijk houden ze alleen een hengst als die ook kan dekken.
Mocht hij afgekeurd zijn dan laten ze hem ook ruinen zodat hij ook bij soortgenoten kan rondlopen.
Dat is toch ook mooi?
Een hengst die niet mag dekken is ook frustrerend.
