Answer from the rancher...
A few long lines directed to those of you who love to make a storm in a glass of water.
Ranch Cercós has thousands of happy customers every year who do lots of different sports including horse-riding.
The horse section, over the last 20 years has offered an excellent opportunity to hundreds of young people from all over Europe and beyond to travel and learn something about the catalan way of life, culture and language. It turns out to be a positive and very enjoyable experience for most. and I can tell you, quite a few of them keep coming back every season.
They are spirited with a passion , with a brain, and displa the right attitude towards fellow trainees or people of different nationalities working on the ranch(including Asian, European of South American descent).
I personally enjoy taking them on occasinal flight tours on our plane around the region, water skiing or big game fishing on our boat or to national or local fiestas in Barcelona or Sitges. We consider them our friends, and we do not refer to them as"trainee" or "tourists"
Of course, these options are not available on your day of arrival. Young people often think that everyone ought to treat them like mom and dad, clear up their mess and pick up their dirty plates behind them. This false illusion is short-lived. In the real world, you have to show your credentials, skills and personal resources. This is the purpose of the whole exercice.
Having say that, we cannot take everyone onboard and therefore we do not encourage daddy´s girls to come and spend a single day on the ranch as a means to break away from parents, boyfriends or personal problems, taking us for a free holiday destination and cheating about their age, weight and experience with horses. We give plenty of second chances. If you cannot even tie up a horse, you can be forgiven by just telling that you are willing to learn.. And do not tell me about evolution or generation gap, I am a father of a 12 years old and she can give the spin to most of this gang of rotten apple in their twenties. But this is another debate that focuses more on educational values and priorities. The fact is that if you feed your children with straw, you take the risk to turn them into donkeys..
So keep up the good job, Evelien, Tatiana and company, telling everyone how nasty Vivian is, making you work so hard with the boys around the swimming pool, feeding the horse twice a day and starving you to death despite all the time you spent around the clock in the kitchen, cooking fancy recipes( and judging from the weight you all put on you could hardly call the red cross to your rescue) with an industrial fridge and freezer packed with food. By the way, we do not handcuff young girls on the ranch and a 50? flight ticket home is no big deal if you feel it is not the right place for you.
Well, that's all from me. My final advice..Gear up for the real life and good luck to all.
